Contract Furnishings - A Color Scheme to Sure Turn Heads
Project Summary
Late in the Fall of 2015, Major Painting was approached by the Owner of Contract Furnishings and his team of designers to come up with a new look for their old, and out dated building. The goal was to bring more curb appeal to the old 6,500 square foot building. The original colors had faded tremendously, giving the building little to no flare, therefore not standing out, although it being on one of the busiest streets in the heart of Kansas City, Missouri.

Project Scope
Contract Furnishings' amazing designers came up with a subtle, but elegant color scheme just hours before the project started. Due to the building not being painted in over a decade, the first step of the process was to power wash the building in order to remove any dirt or grime that could interfere with the paint adhering to the surface properly. After the surfaces was cleaned, Major Painting's crew went back with an elastomeric caulk and filled any cracks in the blocks or holes from previous signage. The third step was to start our first coat.
The painted used for this project was Sherwin Williams ConFlex XL High Build Coating. This coating from Sherwin Williams is an elastomeric waterproof coating that protects masonry and concrete surfaces from water penetration. Conflex, the light grey color, SW 7066 Gray Matters, was used everywhere for the first coat, and for 3/4 of the building on the second coat. The second product used was Benjamin Moore's top of the line exterior paint, Aura. Aura holds its sheen very well and has a very uniformed look after applied unlike any other product on the market. It is showcased on the building as the dark grey accent color, Benjamin Moore Kendall Charcoal HC-166, and as the white trim, Benjamin Moore White Dove OC-17.
The final touch was caulking the North side of the building to the sidewalk to ensure no water could penetrate the building. Masterseal NP1 caulking sealant was used for this.
All in all, the customer always seems to sum up the project the best:
"We are really pleased with the attention to detail, level of service, and end result! These guys are first class!!"
